Manglik (also called Kuja Dosha or Mangal Dosha) is a classical Vedic astrology pattern where Mars (Mangal) sits in one of the houses linked to marriage and partnership. A person is considered Manglik when Mars occupies the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house counted from any of three references: the Ascendant (Lagna — the sign rising at birth), the Moon (Chandra) or Venus (Shukra). The number of references that flag Mars sets the intensity, from mild to strong.
