Muhurta is the ancient Vedic art of selecting the most auspicious — or identifying the most inauspicious — moment for an action or event, by reading the energies of the sky at that exact instant.

Agriculture muhurta selects auspicious times for farm activities such as sowing, planting, harvesting, irrigation and ploughing. The scoring engine evaluates tithi, nakshatra, vara and lagna strength, with weight on a strong Moon and benefic support for growth and yield. Fixed and fruitful nakshatras are favoured for sowing and planting — Rohini, Mrigashira, Pushya, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Anuradha, Uttara Ashadha and Revati support healthy germination and an abundant harvest, while different tasks (sowing versus harvest) shift the preferred nakshatras.

For agriculture muhurta, Rahu Kaal and Yamaganda are always excluded as hard blockers, and Dur Muhurta and Varjyam are flagged as warnings. Sowing and planting are generally avoided during Krishnapaksha (waning Moon), Amavasya (new moon) and barren nakshatras; a debilitated or combust Moon, Kartari Yoga on Lagna and Gandanta Moon also lower the window score. Rikta tithis (4th, 9th, 14th) are avoided, while a waxing Moon (Shukla Paksha) and a strong, well-placed Moon best support fertile, productive farm work.
